We’re showcasing undergraduate research with with a time-limited, entertaining presentation style popularized in Tokyo and spreading throughout the world – ideally suited for a diverse audience and treatment of broader topics. Each presenter is allowed up to 20 images, each shown on screen for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.

Join us for a series of unique presentations on Undergraduate Research. For additional information contact the LEC’s Charlie Bennett at cb129@mail.gatech.edu.

9/5/08, 4:50 pm:

The ScienceDirect problems finally have been resolved. You should no longer be asked to choose an organization and should have access to all GT-entitled journals.

Important: Please clear your browser’s cache and try again if you are still having problems.

More info.: We’re still working with Elsevier to resolve the problem. IN the meantime, you need to choose the GETSM option (the first radio button), NOT the GALILEO option, in order to get to fulltext. If you’re not able to access fulltext, you need to completely close your browser session and start over, choosing the GETSM (first) option when prompted.

Thanks for your patience while we await resolution from Elsevier.

—

There appears to be a problem with Elsevier’s ScienceDirect this morning. For some reason it asks you to choose an organization when first attempting to access a journal. If you choose the first option (the GETSM option, not GALILEO) you should be able to access all GT Library subscriptions. For now, please try that while we continue to troubleshoot.

An update will be posted when we know more.

Internationally acclaimed science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson will visit us here at Georgia Tech next week. Robinson is generally considered to be one of the most important science fiction authors of our time, and has worked closely with a variety of scientists and scientific institutions (including the NSF) to create gripping, carefully detailed, and sometimes alarmingly realistic depictions of terraforming, climate change, and the scientific and social practices associated with these things.

Come meet international award-winning science fiction author Kim Stanley
Robinson in an intimate setting. This event is open to all Georgia Tech students
and faculty. It will begin with a brief interview for the Sci Fi Lab on WREK
radio and then open to a general discussion with Robinson.

This event is hosted by the School of Literature, Communication, and Culture
with the participation of WREK radio and the Georgia Tech Library.

faculty and students as well as the general public. This lecture will last
